This elegant bust was sculpted in France, circa 1880. The sculpture sits on an integral round base and depicts a young beauty in traditional Louis XVI clothing; the art work is signed on the front Barbezat & Cie. The figure is in excellent condition with exquisite work in terms of style, execution, and quality, and adorns a wonderful and rich patinated bronze finish. Weight 55 pounds. Bronze-founders of Osne-le-Val, Haute Marne, France, who made the bronze figures installed at the entrance of the Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin, in 1866 or 1867. The foundry, established by Victor André in 1833 and acquired from his widow by his pupil Gustave Barbezat, became one of the most famous art foundries in France. Measures: 14 W x 9 D x 22 H.
