They got their name from being popularized by dancers— this clip of Ginger Rogers in the 1936 film Follow the Fleet is a perfect example of how tap shorts were worn in the early 20th century. In keeping with the traditional silhouette, this pair feature a high elastic waist, with lace appliqué and a scalloped lace trim.
